I began spiritual life several decades ago, propelled by a burning desire for personal liberation. Over time, that drive was transmuted into a choiceless need to share what I had come to understand so that others, too, could experience inner freedom, wholeness and integration. To this end I created The End of Seeking website www.theendofseeking.org
and began to speak publicly, engaging deeply with many people on the spiritual path.
During this period, I became acutely aware that many seasoned and wise practitioners were somehow living double lives - waiting, often for decades, for enlightenment to strike, while negating or minimising the actual lives they were living. Many compromised their authenticity and downplayed (or questioned) their genuine capacities to fit into a world they were trying to transcend and, in many cases, escape. I developed Everyday Enlightened Living www.anne-sweet.com to bridge this often painful gap and offer pathways for living as our fullest selves now, beyond waiting and compromising.
Three years ago, an opportunity arose to help guide and nurture a group of mature seekers and finders in the inter-relational field of collective awakening. I had experienced this kind of ‘field’ decades earlier in a former spiritual community and was thrilled to participate in a new experiment in transformative interbeing. I watched with awe as the individuals (and the group itself) blossomed in maturity, trust, care and confidence in their own inherent nature and spiritual understanding. It was as though a new order of ‘being and knowing’ was being born and stabilised between and within us. If you’d like to know more about the ‘field’ and how the group evolved, one of our founding members, Peter Mitchell has just published a wonderful and illuminating book about it The Space Between Us: Awakening Together in a Fractured World - available here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FRFPHP8B.
It has become clear to me that spiritual fulfillment is no longer limited to the individual. Under the right conditions, what unfolded in our group revealed an amplified, radical and transformative potential that included everyone who participated. What if this potential isn’t confined to our group or others like it? What if it represents a latent or new human capacity - ready to emerge in society at large, transforming our relationships and our very way of being? What might this mean for ourselves and for our world?
Facilitating this emerging field and joining with others to help midwife it into our suffering, divided world is now my deepest passion and intention. I’ll continue to share how this work unfolds, and I hope you will join me and others in this living exploration.
